Privacy Policy

HireSetu ("we", "us", "our") operates hiresetu.online (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written to align with the Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

1. Data We Collect

From Job Seekers: name, email, phone number, resume/CV, skills, work experience, education, location, and any other information you add to your profile.

From Employers: company name, company size, HQ location, contact phone, website, a registration/identity document (e.g. GST certificate, incorporation certificate, or equivalent proof) used solely for verification, and job listing details.

Automatically (essential): IP address, browser/device information, and session identifiers, collected via server logs and essential cookies, for security and to keep the Platform working.

Automatically (only if you accept marketing cookies): pages you visit, how you arrived at the Platform (referring site, search term, or ad campaign via UTM parameters), device type, and which of our conversion actions you complete (e.g. signing up, joining the employer waitlist, applying to a job). See Section 6, Cookies for what this involves and how to opt out.

We do not knowingly collect financial/payment data at this time, as the Platform does not process payments.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To create and operate your account and match Job Seekers with relevant job listings;
  • To verify Employer identity/legitimacy before allowing job postings to go live;
  • To communicate with you about your account, applications, or verification status;
  • To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms & Conditions;
  • To improve the Platform's performance, search relevance, and reliability;
  • To comply with legal obligations, including responding to lawful requests from Indian authorities.

3. How We Share Your Data

  • With Employers: when you apply to a job, the Employer who posted it can see your profile and resume.
  • With Job Seekers: your company profile and job listings are publicly visible once your Employer account is verified.
  • We do not sell your personal data to third parties, ever.
  • We may share data with service providers who help us operate the Platform (e.g. hosting providers), bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Only if you accept marketing cookies: we share limited, non-financial signals (such as page visits and conversion events like "signed up" or "applied to a job") with Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google (Google Ads), so we can measure and improve our marketing campaigns and, where enabled, show HireSetu ads to people who previously visited. These companies process this data under their own privacy policies (Meta, Google). You can decline this sharing at any time — see Section 6.
  • We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of HireSetu, our users, or the public.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on servers located in/serving India. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including password hashing, access controls, and two-factor authentication for account holders — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes (for example, records related to a reported fraud case).

6. Cookies

We use two categories of cookies:

Essential (always on). These keep you logged in, secure your session (CSRF protection), and remember your cookie choice. The Platform cannot function without them, so they are not subject to opt-out.

Marketing & analytics (only with your consent). If you click "Accept" on our cookie banner, we set a first-party identifier and use it, together with the Meta Pixel and Google Ads tag, to:

  • Understand which pages you visit and how you found us (referrer, search term, or ad campaign);
  • Record when you complete a signup, join the employer waitlist, or apply to a job, so we can measure which marketing efforts work;
  • Share these signals with Meta and Google (see Section 3) so they can attribute and, where enabled, retarget ads based on your visit.

You choose whether to accept these cookies when you first visit, and you can change your mind at any time using "Cookie Preferences" in the site footer, which withdraws consent and clears the associated cookies immediately. If you decline or withdraw consent, only essential cookies are set, no data is shared with Meta or Google, and you can still use every feature of the Platform.

7. Your Rights

Under the DPDP Act, 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data (via your profile settings, or by contacting us);
  • Request deletion of your account and associated personal data;
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing, where applicable;
  • Raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (see below), and subsequently with the Data Protection Board of India if unresolved.

8. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn we have done so, we will delete that data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated to registered users where required.
